Trends and thoughts on the world of new urbanism from Greater Boston and the across the World.
![]() Those who live in or have spent time in the city know Boston is one of the healthiest and most active cities in the nation. We bike (thanks to Mayor Menino for making Boston a bike friendly(er) city), walk, run, kayak, cross-train, lift, Barre, and spin. For anyone who has run in the city, they know that running along the esplanade can feel like running in the middle of the Boston Marathon. Well thanks to a study done by FlowingData’s Nathan Yau using data from a local company, RunKeeper, we now know that the Esplanade is by far Boston and Cambridge’s giant running track. Hopefully this information lends some more support to the Esplanade Associations, Esplanade 2020 Campaign in an effort to revitalize the park and expand it to accommodate the rapid growth and expansion of Boston.
